“Bands against pay to play” is the by and far the dumbest Facebook page ever. Fucking play local shows, hustle the shit out of life, earn yourself a fan base, and THEN step up to the shows where a guarantee is required. Who the fuck is your band to say “I will never pay to play” First off your not…
Bands don’t like pay to play because promoters make the tickets $25 and then tell the bands that they can’t play if they don’t sell enough. Nobody wants to bust their ass running these fuckin tickets to their friends to find out they haven’t sold enough and won’t be able to play. And then we get to the show and we’re playing for the 25 people we sold the tickets to but there’s nobody else which is FINE and cool because we’re playing for our friend, but as a band we’re not really making anything off of these shows because we’re not gettin paid and our fanbase isn’t increasing and we could have set up a local show at a venue hall and charged an easy $10 a ticket and not have asked our friends to huff it out to east bumfuck for a show that would be costly and suck anyway. So yeah fuck pay to play. Sorry to vent haha
I get the issues with it Steve haha but the page that inspired my rant were a bunch of whiney kids complaining about shit. They want to play bigger shows with headliners who are worth a shit, but don’t want to do anything to get there. My thinking on how bands should do things is set up a bunch of those local shows in your surrounding areas, hustle your ass off to build a following, then take on some of those bigger shows where you need to sell tickets to get onto the spot. It shouldn’t just be your first show ever.

Second off, who the fuck is your band to think you matter. You don’t because there are 95058409484 other god damn bands out there willing to bust there ass if your not. “Promoters should do it for the love of the music and to build the scene.” Right lets have them run their business on hopes and wishful thinking. God bands are fucking stupid now and then.
